What is the purpose of our life ?
Before we start to believe where we are heading, it is important to ask : What is the purpose of my life?
For most of us here will say 'Enlightenment'.
Then the second question is Why do you want enlightenment ?
Think! and pen down all the answers that rise out of fear, ego, compassion, helplessness or anything else.
Then go back to the first question. Does it make sense ?

Why?
While interrogating self, I came across my different reasons for attaining enlightenment that are or were valid for me.
Selfish Reasons
1. Affliction (Fear)
a. Fear of losing the created perception of being good in eyes of others
b. Fear of losing perception of self (of kindness, being noble, different from others, being wiser)
c. Fear of not being in control of the worldly Maya/Reality of this Realm
d. Fear due to lack to trust in guiding spirits or Gurus
e. Fear due to powerlessness and disability
f. Fear of birth and death cycle
g. Fear of being left behind
h. Fear of the Final Exit/ Moksha
2. Affliction(Anger)
a. Anger of being in control, helpless and being pushed around
b. Anger on a particular Religious Sect.
c. Anger arising out of wait
d. Anger arising out of stagnation
3. Affliction(Hate)
a. Hate for the evil
b. Hate for the powerful
c. Hate for the people who are above
4. I want to be appreciated (I wasn’t able to accept)
5. I want to suffer any more (I was able to accept)
6. I want sense of security (I wasn’t able to accept)
7. I want to move to higher realms (I was able to accept)
8. I want to help everyone and feel great (satisfy my ego)
Non Selfish Reasons
1. I want to help (out of compassion)
2. I want enlightenment for sake of all other sentient beings who are endlessly suffering in different realms including ours.
